Giclée [gee-clay]
A rough translation from French is "the spraying of ink."

In technical terms a Giclée is a digital copy of an original work of art using a high-resolution digital file and a wide format seven-color inkjet printer.  The printer sprays tiny droplets of pigmented inks on an hand-streched archival canvas or paper to a resolution of 1440 dots per inch.  Done well, a Giclée is difficult to distinguish from an original work of art. Reputable museums around the world, including the Louvre, New York's Metropolitan Museum & The Guggenheim display Giclées as part of their collection.

With the latest inksets and ultraviolet protectorate coatings, archival integrity and resistance to fading may go well beyond that of the original work of art.  Giclées are widely accepted by collectors for their rich color, overall appearance and unlimited framing options.  Each comes with certificate of authenticity & biography - each has been signed & certified by a member of the Empie family.

The yucca was Mr. Empie's favorite subject to paint!  You'll see them many times throughout his work.  They are everywhere near his birthplace of Safford, Arizona.

The original of this was painted in the 1980's.  'North Pasture' is featured on the dust jacket of the book 'Arizona's Hal Empie' published and written by the Arizona Historical Foundation.
